Story of Bernadette from New South Wales

Greetings, I am 60 years old I have 1 son,a teacher 35,and 2 grandsons. I was a single mother from domestic violence,I worked, eventually becoming a chef, I paid private rent,as there was a 16 yr waiting list for housing. I put my son through private education without any help without any maintenance. Sometimes working 3 jobs. My son started working with me at 12 and is also a workaholic. Because we had to be. Now at 60 ,on disability pension, 6 months ago I was in a shelter due to abuse, but if you won't involve police, the government won't help you very much at all I now pay $290 a week, in a very dangerous area, my landlord Patrick Kelly has moved a dealer in next to me 3 months ago, I already have an AVO on her for trying to kill me. I'm going through an AVO with landlords girlfriend across road. I have osteoporosis, COPD, bowel disorder, and mental health issues after being sexually assaulted THREE times in my life.,I'm 42 kg because I can't eat or sleep. Mr Albanese can say he grew up in housing WELL GIVE ME ONE. Rent assistance needs to adjust for older people ,the way it does for people with children. I went back to work at 60,just to work 4 days in a 50° chicken shop ,but the government taking 50% ,I was making $150 extra, wow. You don't inspire people to work. I am left with $90 a fortnight to live. Department of housing do not take into account your bills ,when saying you must apply for a property worth $$$ I have no help I have no hope Not with this government. Start building affordable rentals.
